INGREDIENTS (4 servings):
For breaded mozzarella baked:
– 7 oz (200 g) mozzarella Brazzale
– 8 slices of bread
– 3 medium eggs
– 1/2 cup (100 ml) of milk
If you prefer the fried variant you must add to this ingredients also the flour and the oil for frying.
This is a timeless classic that never ceases to amaze.
A crisp casing that encloses a soft heart of melted mozzarella… a real treat for your palate!
It is a quick and delicious appetizer that can be offered as a starter or for an aperitif. Enjoy your meal!
Breaded mozzarella baked:
Cut the edges of the bread, then take the mozzarella and cut into slices (triple thickness compared to bread). Prepare three bowls, the first with milk, the second one with beaten eggs (season with salt and pepper) and the third one with breadcrumbs.
Now take a slice of bread, place on top the pieces of mozzarella and close with a second slice of bread. Dip it in milk, then in egg and finally in breadcrumbs taking care to cover the edges to seal it.
Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the sandwiches, then bake at 200° for 15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and serve hot!!
For the fried version:
Within the sandwich, in addition to mozzarella, you can add anchovies or ham. Then prepare three bowls, the first with flour, the second one with beaten eggs and milk mixed together, and the third one with breadcrumbs (or poppy seeds) to make them even more crispy.
Dip the sandwiches first in flour, then in the mixture of eggs and milk (this procedure can be run twice to make thicker the breading) and finally in the breadcrumbs.
Now proceed with the frying in vegetable oil until they brown on both sides, drain and place them on paper towels.
